Clubbersmedia : Hello Timo Maas, nice to know you.. well, tell us about your experience remixing for Madonna and how that came about ?
Timo Maas : Hello, Nice to know you... Her management rang my management and they asked me and they asked me... I said yes, it's Madonna - you gotta do it! hahahaaa...
Clubbersmedia : You have remixed a lot of song, does any one song stand out, and if yes, why?
Timo Maas : I'm really proud of my new album. Martin and I sweated long hours and big bags of smoke to finish it hahaa... Of my remixes I still love the Muse mix, which was my first go at a rock band..
Clubbersmedia : You have played everywhere, what have been some of the most memorablen spots you have visited?
Timo Maas : Wow.. Last year i went to every continent apart from antartica... Unfortunately, I don't get a lot of opportunity to see much.. the Pyramids in Mexico were pretty amazing..
Clubbersmedia : How do you go about choosing which songs to remix and how to remix them ?
Timo Maas : Martin and I see if there are sounds in them that excite us, or sometimes it's just a feeling we have
Clubbersmedia : Nice, and you say you are not trance, you are not techno, so what are you ?
Timo Maas : I just play funky house music of barying styles, i like dirty percussive stuff
Clubbersmedia : What do you prefer, as a DJ or music producer ?
Timo Maas : first is a DJ and producer's second, i got involved with producing because I kept wanting things to sound a certain way
Clubbersmedia : What were some of your influences?
Timo Maas : Lots of 80's stuff, early techno records, lots of funk
Clubbersmedia : Which DJ would you go to see ?
Timo Maas : Danny Tenaglia is a god, and i've always been a Carl Cox fan too..
Clubbersmedia : Then.... what on earth is a "Jazz Cigarette" ?
Timo Maas : hahaa.. you know, a recreational smoke, a spliff, something for vibes...
