Biography :
Youngest artist and also founder of Camouflage. Gibran’s musical vision of the dance floor has varied and spanned many surfaces of dance music. Being exposed to the underground scene back in 1998, He got his first introduction to the club scene by the drum and bass community. Back then, he was an mc for the dnb movement. Playing at illegal underground parties. Up until year 2000 Gibran’s passion for the dance scene grows even harder. He then switch to the taste of progressive and house after being enthralled by a fellow local DJ at an underground party that was held over at his friend’s. He then started collecting vinyls. Beforehand he has share the taste of Trance during the height of Trance era back in 1997. At that time, ATB, Future Sound Of London and Paul Oakenfold was what he listens to the most. Having influenced deeply by artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, The “Wicked” Team (Jeno, Garth & Markie Mark), Gibran’s musical vision has take him to where he is now.
By the mid of 2002, he formed Camouflage with the vision to even enlarge the scene that he was in. His musical style of House music, but with laid on electronic elements that’s varied from the likes of electro to the likes of acid and tech has made him exceptional. Having played in numerous event Jakarta and Bandung from small underground parties up to the much upscale venue such as a2 club (closed), Musro, Co2 (now Wonderbar), Embassy and many others has gained him recognition from his loyal follower. He has spun on many widely known radio shows such as Paranoia on Hard Rock FM, Groovebox on Trax FM and Groovism on Prambors. His friends described his music to be “deep & manic”. But he himself don’t want to limit his search in music.
Gibran has shared decks with international acclaimed artists such as Max Graham, Ed2000 (dangerous drums, German), Supercozi a.k.a Zen Lemonade (Hypo=Espresso,Japan & Dragonfly Records, London) & D Ramirez. At this point Gibran has got his hand in producing music with his long time friend, Theo,under the name “Monodrama”. Blending sound of various electronic elements into the basic of house. Monodrama tracks “Into The Void” has been going for quite awhile now at paranoia dance chart, and receive a very high air time and most requested song for 2 consecutive weeks. And just recently Gibran decides that it’s time to go on about his own idealism and form another collectives DoTheNothing Records, specially dedicated for Monodrama and his solo works.
In the year 2005, Gibran got into the finals (big 12) of Heineken Thirst Global DJ Search, and it proved that his musical vision of the dance floor sees the world of tomorrow. And that he is a DJ who should be accounted and watched out for.
